Abstract: The housing markets in numerous German cities face the challenge to provide appropriate and affordable living space. From a municipal point of view, due to their potentials, joint building ventures have the possibility to support various social and development goals. However, there is a lack of awareness of joint building ventures in Germany so far. Against this background, the present study examines the influencing factors that might drive the lacking market penetration. On the basis of the data analysis (N=630), specific measures for public housing are derived.
