Abstract: Empowerment processes refer to solidarity-based actions by disadvantaged people who want to overcome difficult situations in life through community self-help. Qualitative interviews with active members of Turkish women's cooperatives regarding experienced empowerment processes show that the implementation of cooperative principles in the organizational form of women's cooperatives holds great potential for the psychological, political and economic empowerment of women.
