Abstract: Science centers are different from museums as they have a special concept for not only displaying exhibits but aiming at a higher level of interaction with different phenomena. They strive at educating visitors by letting them experience independently and in a more interactive and playful way. The study focuses on the success factors of such science centers and displays the importance of funding, cooperation and networks. The participants mentioned competences and motivation of employees, a balanced mix of funding and a close collaboration with local institutions, the accessibility and support by the local administration as success factors.
