Fifty Shades of QE: Robust Evidence

Brian Fabo, Martina Jancokova, Elisabeth Kempf and Luboŝ Pástor

National Institute of Economic and Social Research (NIESR) Topical Briefings, 2023, issue 11

Abstract: The effectiveness of unconventional monetary policy (QE for short) has been the subject of intense debate in both academic and policy circles. In their new paper, Brian Fabo, Martina Jancokova, Elisabeth Kempf and Luboŝ Pástor build on the analysis provided by Martin Weale and Tomasz Wieladek in their "Fifty Shades of QE Revisited" working paper to explore whether the original assertion – that papers written by central bank researchers find quantitative easing (QE) to be more effective than papers written by academics – is still valid.
