Abstract: This paper presents an analysis of the results obtained by work on the International Scientific Project for Future-Oriented Management of Forest Landscapes – INTEGRAL. The demographic situation in the Velingrad area is analysed in the 1956 - 2013 period in the fields including: the number of the population; the gender and age structure, the proportion of urban and rural population. The demographic development in the Velingrad municipality is compared to the demographic development in the Pazardzhik district and in Bulgaria. The results are generalised by SWOT analysis
