Assistive Technologies and Inclusive Education for People with Visual Impairments

Abstract: The present research examines the role of assistive technologies in the process of inclusive education for people with visual impairments in the context of digital transformation. Key technological solutions such as screen readers, Braille displays, textto-speech software, OCR systems, mobile applications and web accessibility tools that have the potential to remove barriers to access to educational resources are analyzed. The research is based on a comparative analysis of international standards, normative frameworks and good practices, emphasizing the importance of integrating universal design for learning and complying with the guidelines for digital accessibility (WCAG, EN 301 549, EAA, etc.). The results obtained show that the effective use of assistive technologies in combination with appropriate policies and training strategies contributes to the achievement of a higher degree of equality and active social integration of people with visual impairments. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the role and effectiveness of assistive technologies in the process of inclusive online education for people with visual impairments through a comparative analysis of international standards, regional differences and institutional practices. Within the research, a comparative analysis of global barriers, institutional differences and regional availability of key assistive technologies has been carried out, allowing a more in-depth assessment of factors affecting digital accessibility.
