Abstract:
The study examines certain aspects of the agriculture and food industry through the lens of food waste, resource optimization and productivity improvement. As a significant sector for the Bulgarian economy and an important global issue in view of increased consumption, limited resources and climate change, an opportunity for economic growth is identified. Through proactive policies and the introduction of technology and innovation, the industry is able to reduce costs and increase productivity, improve sector competitiveness and gain an international advantage, realising growth. The study applies methods of analysis and synthesis, descriptive analysis, and uses information and findings from scientific and empirical research and publications.
