Abstract: This commentary builds on the previously published work titled "Philippine Mental Health Act: Just an Act? A Call to Look Into the Bi-directionality of Mental Health and Economy," which highlighted the reciprocal influence between mental health and economic stability in the Philippines. Expanding on these foundational insights, this paper delves into how mental health impacts labor productivity and economic resilience, while noting how economic downturns can exacerbate mental health challenges. Through advanced methodologies like causal inference, behavioral economics, and cost-benefit analysis, the authors advocate for empirical studies that could inform policies aimed at fostering both mental health and economic growth, thereby embedding mental health considerations into broader economic planning and development strategies.
