Abstract: Ayah Timotius adalah seorang Yunani, tetapi ibunya seorang Yahudi. la bertobat pada usia kurang lebih lima belas tahun, ketika Rasul Paulus mengunjungi kota asalnya, Listra (Kis. 16:1-3; 1Tim. 1:2). Tujuh tahun kemudian ia ikut dalam pelayanan penginjilan Paulus dan terjalinlah hubungan persahabatan yang sangat erat antara Paulus yang saat itu sudah berumur kira-kira tujuh puluh tahun dengan rekannya yang lebih muda.
