Abstract: This paper proposes a new beach utilization model centered on beach sports to achieve sustainable local communities. Focusing on the diversity and growth potential of beach sports, we address the challenges facing Japanese beaches: seasonal concentration of use, environmental issues, and aging society. By redefining beaches as year-round activity spaces, we aim to promote their continuous utilization and regional revitalization through year-round event planning and all-season facility development. The model aims to create multifaceted value through developing and promoting programs for the elderly, environmental education, and strengthening disaster prevention functions. This vision is expected to generate diverse benefits, including revitalization of the tourism industry, reduction in healthcare costs, enhanced environmental awareness, and community building, creating new appeal for Japan's coastal regions. It enables the construction of a sustainable social model that can be enjoyed across generations. This paper received an Honorable Mention Award in the 50th Anniversary Research Paper Competition organized by the Japan Marina and Beach Association.
