A negação do sofrimento no trabalho em teleatendimento

Abstract: Work intensity in call center industry is the source of numerous diseases, both physical and mental. In research carried out with employees of a large company in São Paulo, it was found, though, that work-related illness coexists with employees’ tendency to value their company positively. We try to show that denial of psychic suffering is at the core of a collective subjectivity distinguished by bonds of solidarity and by the alignment to the company’s motivational discourse, which is centered in the defense of good communication and in the promise of career advancement. This kind of sociability is here interpreted in the light of Christophe Dejours’ Psychopathology of Work, notably with resort to his conception of “defensive ideologies”.
