Abstract:
Thailand scored 4.32 (out of 10) in the GCPI, placing it on the higher end of the “Emerging” Index Band. Its score of 2.65 in Sub-Index A was significantly lower than its score of 6.00 in Sub-Index B. Improvements to employment protections for women returning from maternity leave and nursing support at the workplace are sorely needed. Paternity leave policies, flexible work arrangements, and family-friendly workplace policies are lacking. Thailand scored well in ensuring labor rights for domestic workers and protections for those who are forced or under-age. However, its score was dragged down by the lack of a fair employment process and a missing framework to ensure decent working and living conditions.
