Abstract:
To the best of our knowledge, CES functions in their general form are rarely detailed in textbooks. Students, even at postgraduate level, are usually little aware of the characteristics, difficulties and possibilities of this type of function. This work is the result of our teaching experience with students from a variety of institutions of higher education (universities and “Grandes Ecoles”). We hope to offer here a minimal working knowledge on functions with constant elasticity of substitution, functions the properties of which are still being explored, mostly because of the problem of dimensional homogeneity that they raise.
