Abstract: Many organizations dealing with a variety of projects face the challenge of improving their system of managing projects. In many cases organizations try to implement a standard for project management such as the new global project management standard ISO 21 500. Unfortunately many of these projects to introduce a new project management standard fail. Organizations do not realize that implementation of a new standard for such an important field of business is not a single event. On the contrary, it is a change process that has to be conducted according to rules of change management. Here we show the case study of how a German supplier to the automotive industry managed to start such a change process successfully implementing ISO 21 500.
