Abstract: Currently, many companies have reemployment systems in Japan. These systems are generally designed to involve a change in status or a decrease in wages. It is important that senior employees play an active role , and this is considered to be an key issue for companies that have reemployment systems. The purpose of this study was to clarify the relationship between the various changes associated with reemployment and the intrinsic motivation of reemployed senior employees in order to understand how reemployed employees can maintain the same high level of motivation in their work as before retirement. We conducted a questionnaire survey of 1,114 reemployed employees at Company X, a general chemical manufacturer. We confirmed that the motivation of reemployed employees is related to "job design after rehiring" and "sense of fairness in personnel evaluation.
