Abstract:
Based on a sample of prefecture-level cities in China from 2004 to 2017, the policy effects of the “market-based mechanism”design of emission reduction tools are examined. The study concludes that China's carbon emissions trading system has a very significant emission reduction effect, and the market-based reform has a facilitating effect, while a reasonable corporate tax burden and environmental regulation intensity have a synergistic effect on the operational efficiency of the carbon market. It is also found that China's carbon emissions trading system has a significant impact on corporate R&D behavior, but its role needs to be further developed.
