International Journal of Low-Carbon Technologies, 2025, vol. 20, 635-645

Abstract: This study assesses the economic and social impacts of the development of the Jeddah Corniche, examining how water infrastructure investments align with Saudi Vision 2030 for sustainable urban growth, economic diversification, and improved quality of life. Applying input–output and cost–benefit analysis frameworks, the study estimates the contributions of desalination and wastewater treatment projects to GDP, job creation, and tourism. The results indicate that these initiatives could boost GDP by approximately 4%, create 15 000 jobs, and increase tourism revenues by 20% over 5 years. These insights are used to formulate policy recommendations to improve the sustainability of urban development in Jeddah.
