Abstract:
Rebasing the services producer price indexThe experimental services producerprice index (SPPI) was rebased as of 26November 2008, an exercise that hasre-referenced the index to 2005=100from its previous base of 2000=100.The weighting patterns have also beenupdated to refl ect market shares in thenew base year. This article briefl y describesthe development of the SPPI, constructionof the index, the methodology employedand weighting patterns calculations andcompares growth in both the net andgross sector indices on both bases.
