The Monetary History and Monetary Statistics

James Forder

Chapter Chapter 13 in Milton Friedman, 2019, pp 203-213 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract The first two books by Friedman and Schwartz—A Monetary History of the United States (1963), and Monetary Statistics of the United States (1970)—are considered. It is argued that they are both extraordinary works of scholarship, and the first in particular, full of important ideas, as well as some highly debatable ones. It is noted that they were generally very well received.
