Keynes’ Enduring Legacy
Richard N. Cooper
Chapter 8 in Keynes’s General Theory After Seventy Years, 2010, pp 133-135 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract I feel privileged to have been an eavesdropper in a meeting among specialists on Keynes. Inevitably, as in all meetings of specialists, the discussion focuses on the fine points of his life and his contributions. I cannot contribute usefully to that discourse. Instead, I will suggest what has been Keynes’ legacy to the wider world, from the perspective of an economist not specializing on Keynes. I will identify five enduring contributions, four positive and one negative.
