Chapter 1 in The Chinese Economy, 2012, pp 13-31 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract China’s economic rise has been one of the world’s most significant events at the turn of this century. The economists of my generation witnessed of the economic ups and downs during the first thirty years of the People’s Republic of China. We are also active participants in the subsequent three decades of reforms. In this speech, I will explain the role of economics in China’s economic development based on my observation and experience.
