Chapter Chapter 8 in Economic Development with Special Reference to East Asia, 1964, pp 255-272 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract It is the purpose of the ensuing analysis to consider the connexion, which may be positive or negative, between money creation and economic growth. The focus is upon conditions in under-developed countries, both in the general a priori analysis and in the presentation of concrete evidence. Economists have expressed divergent convictions upon this issue, it scarcely needs to be said. Perhaps the most profitable first step in seeking a solution is a careful review of the opposing positions.
