Abstract:
Abstract Pakistan’s well-known achievement through development planning is a sure indicator of the importance of the public sector in initiating, directing and leading the process of economic growth in a less developed country. This paper reviews the role of the public sector both through direct investment and policy measures in East and West Pakistan separately. Because of the distance and structural differences between them, East and West Pakistan serve as control areas for highlighting the significance of the oublic sector in the economic development of less developed regions.
