Abstract:
Abstract The growth of and the structural change in the industrial sector of Pakistan has been quite outstanding during the past two decades. The contribution of manufactures to the gross national product at 1959–60 factor cost rose from 5·8 per cent in 1949–50 to about 11·5 per cent in 1964–5. The ratio of the contributions of large- and small-scale manufacturing respectively to the gross national product changed from 1·4 : 4·4 in 1949–50 to 7·7 : 3·8 in 1964–5 (Table 9.1).
