Abstract: Abstract There is a growing concern over the serious impact of population growth on the prospects of socio-economic development. Although such an impact may be felt in the developed countries, it is a critical issue in the developing countries. Thus, a better understanding of the complex interrelationships between population changes and socioeconomic development is essential for the appropriate formulation, implementation and evaluation of plans and programmes for social and economic progress.
