Abstract:
Abstract This paper deals mainly with the structure of Latin American financial systems and the appropriateness of these systems for fostering economic development. Financial institutions are appraised with reference to the gathering and employment of funds. The respective rôles of private institutions and of government institutions and government controls are discussed briefly in connection with the employment of funds.
