Chapter Chapter 2 in The Economics of Education, 1966, pp 24-70 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract To those who prefer to think of education in terms of ideas and individual human beings, the money measurement of educational effort may seem somewhat abstract if not repulsive. But it is evident that there are some requirements, such as budgeting and costing, which make the abbreviation and uniform definition provided by a money measurement indispensable. The same is true of macro-economic analysis. To show, for instance, the claims of education as a sector of social life on aggregate national product or its share in national income, it is essential to add up all the different services and commodities used for education in one total of money.
