Chapter 4 in The Relevance of Economic Theories, 1980, pp 47-64 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Redefining the concept of economic rationality is as desirable as it is difficult. What I am going to attempt is simply to propose some lines of reasoning. The emphasis throughout will be on the growing role of macro rationality; this includes the fact that, parallel to the strengthening of its foundations, another line of thought and activity is emerging — the problem of global rationality.
