Abstract: Abstract This report does not include the discussion of two of the papers presented at the conference. The Ferri and Szego and the Pickersgill papers had already been published in English. Comments made on these papers by discussants and conference participants were not wholly appropriate to the markedly different papers now included in this volume. Similarly, the paper by Dolde and Tobin was presented at the conference in a much abbreviated form, and much of the conference discussion is now largely redundant. The reported ‘discussion’ printed here summarises a lively and illuminating written interchange between the authors and Professor Feldstein.
