Chapter 10 in Economics in a Changing World, 1994, pp 225-257 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract The economic reforms and structural adjustment programmes of the past ten years have sparked off a number of studies exploring the effects of these reforms on macroeconomic stability, growth and development. Most of the interest has focused on the more successful countries in Asia and South America, but relatively little is known about such reforms in Africa. This chapter proposes to close this gap by analyzing the new industrial policy (NIP) of Senegal.
