Abstract:
Abstract Argentina remains an important supplier of agricultural products to international markets, particularly of beef and grains, but since the 1930s her participation in world markets has shown a declining trend. Though the share of agriculture in the Argentine G.N.P. is currently less than 15 per cent, it will be argued that the sector plays a much larger role in influencing the functioning of Argentina’s economy. This is because agricultural products still contribute about 90 per cent of total Argentine exports, and in consequence the import capacity of the country depends heavily upon the performance of the agricultural sector.
