The Impact of Industry and Strategy on Innovation System Design

James A. Christiansen

Chapter 9 in Competitive Innovation Management, 2000, pp 233-257 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Not all companies have the same kind of innovation system, nor should they. Very effective innovators, such as 3M and ConsumerCo, have very different innovation systems. Why? In part because their industries and strategies require them to do different things when they innovate.
