Abstract: Abstract We live in a world of change. Companies have to renew to cope with the changes in an increasingly interconnected world and with the impact of increasing levels of competition (Hitt, Ricart and Nixon 1998). This increasingly interconnected world, bred by the development of technological innovations (Bettis and Hitt 1995), and also by the lowering of barriers and deregulation (Walker, Madsen and Carini 2002), is creating a new competitive landscape in which companies interplay.
