Abstract Psychoanalysis, a theory and therapy of the mind, ranks among the most significant contributions to knowledge in the twentieth century. Only rarely is it possible to link a watershed in man’s understanding of himself with the work of a single individual. But such is the case with psychoanalysis and its discoverer, Sigmund Freud.
