Chapter 11 in Reflexive Practice, 2010, pp 199-216 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter tells the story of four fictional colleagues: Mark Redd, an engineer for large energy projects Sally Black, a military officer working at the CIA John White, a management consultant Larry Green, an economist with an international development agency All are reflexive practitioners engaged in a many-sided global crisis involving energy, environment security, economy, and much more. These professionals use their discretion and seize opportunities to scan, elaborate, reframe, potentiate, and prune. They are frequently unsure of themselves and in tension with their institutions. Together, they may be creating coherent social adaptation that others cannot.
