Abstract: Abstract Most of the success of great creative directors lies not only in the power and originality of their ideas but in their ability to manage the creativity of others, to use the constraints of each stage of a project to defi ne the field within which the people will then work. And they are able to present that field as a series of concrete and exciting challenges that will release people into a creative response regardless of the consequences. They are above all vigilant, watching all the time for the fragments of a good idea which they can encourage and support and then weave into their vision for the whole piece.
