Chapter Chapter 8 in Missing Pieces, 2009, pp 137-152 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Just how important are these missing pieces of management? It may be useful here to draw an analogy between the world of sports and the world of business, particularly for the problem of task confusion and conflict that many employees and managers run into. A football team cannot allow two players to do the same play, to interfere with each other or, worse, to be unaware of whom exactly they should be covering. Otherwise, any strategy, however well planned, will run into trouble to the dismay of the spectators, the players and the coach.
