A chapter in People Management in Turbulent Times, 2009, pp 146-148 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Many in the UK remember the political advisor who thought that the day after 9/11 was a good one to “bury bad news.” It is an issue that many consider very seriously. When is the best time to announce the closure of a plant, the laying off of a large part of the workforce, or the resignation of a well-loved (or much-hated) senior manager?
