Chapter 15 in Foreign Direct Investment, China and the World Economy, 2010, pp 327-361 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract The purpose of this paper is to analyse the organisational changes in Sinotrans, a Chinese state-owned service intermediary. In so doing, the paper tests a series of propositions derived from the Parsons and Thompson approach to administrative theory (Parsons, 1960; Thompson, 1967). The paper is unique in that it explores a single longitudinal case of a state-owned enterprise (SOE) in a transitional market setting, utilising a synoptic approach derived from a classic source of organisational analysis.
