Managing a Workplace Bully: Confronting Bullying Behavior in a Team Member
Aryanne Oade
Chapter Chapter 6 in Managing Workplace Bullying, 2009, pp 92-112 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract In this chapter we’ll be considering your options as a manager who thinks that they might have a workplace bully in their team. The chapter will examine your role as the person whose responsibility it is to: Recognize that you have a team member who is using bullying behavior. Establish whether or not they are consistently using bullying behavior and are in fact a workplace bully – or whether they use aggression on an occasional or infrequent basis. Confront a bullying team member about their ongoing use of coercive behavior. Manage the situation to a satisfactory conclusion.
