Chapter Chapter 6 in Building Influence in the Workplace, 2010, pp 108-131 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Things are going well for you. You have worked hard to build influence with the key people with whom you need to work productively day in, day out. You have established effective relationships with members of your team, with your peer group, and with the senior managers with whom you need to work. Most of the time you are able to get done the things you need to do to perform effectively in your role, and when you cannot find a way forward with a particular colleague, you can in the main engage in a discussion with them around the issues to find a way forward. However, you are aware that you cannot take the influence you have gained for granted. You respect the fact that retaining influence requires just as much thought, application, and skill as gaining it in the first place.
