Abstract: Abstract Appropriately the business of motorsport conducts itself at a pace that matches its racing raison d’être. As we closed for press some of the most significant deals of the century were proposed or enacted, and we were able to gather and statistically analyse a cross-section of the 150 firms questioned for this title with a low (15 per cent) response rate overall the survey was not infallible. However, as with many other surveys we concentrated on the engineering core of the industry but we consider that the scale and scope of the industry needs to be analysed under five major categories:
