Introduction
Marco Weiss
Chapter 1 in Efficient Organizational Design, 2007, pp 1-13 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract This book is about organizational design. How economic activities are designed has deep implications for the efficiency with which organizations operate and the amount of value they create. The ‘wrong’ organizational design leads to dysfunctional decisions made by the constituencies within the organizations that carry out the economic activity. Value is either destroyed or the potential for the creation of value is not fully exploited. The goal of this book is to show how ‘good’ organizational design is the basis for the full realization of potential for creating and distributing value.
