Chapter Chapter 9 in Understanding and Regulating the Market at a Time of Globalization, 2000, pp 163-165 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Making use of institutional mechanisms, some countries have been able to delay or fend off the globalisation of their local markets. Other countries brought the process to a halt by imposing quotas. Companies themselves adopt defensive strategies in response to globalisation, such as forging business alliances, controlling local distribution networks, or setting up potential and effective means of retaliation within a multi-market competition game.
