Export Dynamism and Economic Growth since the 1990s

Chapter VI in Economic Reforms in Chile, 2010, pp 149-173 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The nineties marked a new stage for Chilean trade policy. Export dynamism was encouraged by a more comprehensive policy that combined both the principles of an open economy and free trade and integration agreements with several countries or groups of them — at the beginning, particularly in Latin America, and subsequently with diverse developed countries and other emerging regions. This strategy was implemented in a new economic environment characterized by high domestic investment and overall growing productivity, especially until 1998.
