Abstract:
Abstract Edinburgh is Scotland’s capital city and for international visitors to Scotland it acts as the gateway to the country. It is the United Kingdom’s second city for tourism after London, is the world’s leading festival city, the historic city center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is the first UNESCO World City of Literature (having invented the designation), is regularly voted the United Kingdom’s favorite city break destination, in 2009 was 28th in the International Congress and Conference Association (ICCA) rankings, generates 13.5 million visitor bed nights per annum, and has a visitor economy worth £2.1 billion per annum that employs 25,000 people.
