Chapter 2 in Cluster-Based Industrial Development, 2011, pp 15-38 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract As was hypothesized in Chapter 1 , traders play a critically important role in the development of industrial clusters (see Hypothesis 2). Also important is the managerial human capital of enterprise managers, which is conducive to multifaceted innovations (see Hypothesis 1). The purpose of Part I ( Chapters 2 and 3 ) is to test these two hypotheses based on case studies of garment clusters in Vietnam and Kenya. Special emphasis is placed on the role of traders, as this has seldom been proven statistically.
