Abstract Potential leaders who are fortunate enough to acquire the basic ingredients of leadership during their early years (ingredients such as good education and early experiences; upbringing; work ethics and values—see Figure 3.1) will still have a few more paths to follow on their journey toward becoming outstanding leaders. We will examine a number of specific actions that potential leaders and their organizations must undertake to enhance the likelihood of future success when we discuss these four paths:
