Abstract:
Abstract Digital technologies are shaping cultural institutions in new and surprising ways. Much of the current research on the ways we look at the intersection of cultural institutions and technology focuses on the access to knowledge (through online databases and catalogues). This case study attempts to gofurther and suggests that digital technologies may, in fact, alter how we understand aesthetics more generally. It will do so via an examination of the NY Art Beat iPhone application and its use in the cell phone.
