Abstract: Abstract On the evening of October 7, 2004, the last day of the Golden Week holiday in China, Jia Changbin, chairman of China Aviation Oil (CAO), received a call from the CEO and managing director, Chen Jiulin. Chen told Jia that CAO had incurred paper losses on its futures trading and was requesting his instructions and possibly seeking financial support from its parent company in Beijing.
